How can I gain support for an Internet solution from my community?

An upcoming LETS client mentioned the work she was doing to get the members of the group behind the project, and in response I jotted down this survey, which might be put into Survey Monkey or printed and done face to face.

  1. We need to move the accounting to an online system to free up resources. Do you have any fears about entering your own transactions, offers and wants online?
  2. If you could get up to date information online, and print it out yourself, would you still want the committee to prepare, copy, and post that?
  3. Could you envisage any benefits to the group of participating in a wider network of complementary currency communities?
  4. How much might you use cash LETS?
  5. In the current economic climate, what role if any should our group be playing in the wider community?
  6. What is the optimum membership for a LETS group, and why?
  7. Demurrage is a tax on positive balances, it encourages spending. It also sends money back to the centre. Do you think we are ready for more advanced mechanisms such as tax?
  8. What kinds of new members should we be trying to attract, if any, and where would they be reached?
  9. Please order the following priorities for our group:
    • Increasing membership numbers
    • Increasing member participation
    • Helping other LETS communities move forward
    • Increasing our local profile
    • Giving more with to local community
    • Making better use of technology
  10. Please prioritise the following.
    • LETS is an excuse to meet interesting people
    • LETS builds community, and community is important
    • LETS could be a critical economic lifeboat
    • LETS encourages more sustainable living
    • LETS helps marginalised people feel valued
    • LETS can make use of resources which official money can't
    • LETS bring political power back to the grassroots
    • LETS is tax-free earnings
    • LETS provides a way for 'alternative' people to thrive outside the system.
