World Student Christian Federation discussions

On October 12th 2012 Community Forge's WIll Ruddick and Tim Anderson met with Christine Housel Secretary General of WSCF (a worldwide movement of over 2 million members) to discuss how complementary currencies could help educate and empower WSCF movements to be part of the Solidarity Economy.

Community Forge co-organises an event during the UN Human Rights Council Social Forum

You are cordially invited to a side event of the UN Human Rights Council Social Forum on "Solidarity Economy and Alternative Finance: Another Development Model?" to be held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland on 3 October at 1:15-2:45 in Room XXVI. The event will feature Thomas Greco but also colleagues from the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting is organized by the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS), in collaboration with UNRISD and CommunityForge. 17 Local Economies Set up in a Day

At the annual summer National InterSEL camp in Poisy France, we held a one-day workshop and set up our free tool for 17 communities; training community leaders to manage their activities and accounts. Local Economies were set up in Paris, Lyon, Clermont-Ferrand and others

More then 450 LETS participants came to Poisy to holiday, exchange experience and work together. Already equipped with their personal experience and their social activities within the LETS, some are ready to become transition actors and scale up their model.

Community Forge board member Jem Bendell on Al Jazeera

Jem Bendell, Board member of CommunityForge, helped produce an episode of 'Counting the cost' called 'Money for Nothing' this weekend. It features a discussion on mutual credit, banking and money creation, with a view on Shariah money creation from Tarek El Diwany, followed by an interview with Dave Fishwick, a UK millionaire celebrated for founding local savings and loan company, but prohibited from banking per se.
